Summer Resolutions

Who says resolutions are only for new years? I don’t think so. Therefore, I have decided to make a list of my summer resolutions. I guess you may just call them goals, in the end I’m not sure of the difference between both. I've always had a good idea of what I want to achieve throughout certain periods in my life but I have never decided to write them down. People say checklists are a helpful tool to keep yourself organized and even though I’ve never really been a fan of to-do-lists, I’m hoping this one will be different and will keep me focused throughout the summer. Maybe you should give it a try as well :). Anyway, here it goes:

1. First and foremost, to spend lots of quality time with my family and friends in order to enjoy my time at home to the fullest.
2. Write on my blog at least 4 times/week, which is not a problem because I love doing it and it’s my own way to vent.
3. Start doing exercise regularly, however, seeing that I can’t even ride my bike or run on the streets when I’m in Honduras (I appreciate life too much & don’t wanna risk it), I probably should hit a gym.
4. Figure out what do to with my life once January 2012 comes… (no more denial phase, in the end it has got to happen :s).
5. Read the entire manual that came with my camera and learn what every single one of those buttons does (they must be there for something).
6. Read the fashion illustration book I bought and start practicing again.
7. Continue to improve my Italian, by finishing an Italian romance novel I’ve had for some time and watching Italian movies.

I leave you with some photos from when my friend took me to the shooting range on my birthday, it being my first time there I must admit I was a lil nervous. I find it kinda funny that I still don't look like a bad-ass even when I'm armed haha.

Firing my first shot, just about to be scared by the very loud sound it makes

Him showing me how to load the gun, in case I would ever need to

Definitely not a bad-ass photo but at least I was making the officers laugh haha

Not a fashion related post but I thought I'd share this experience with you all. I know this is not your typical shooting range but have you ever gone to one?

Popping Summer Colors!

I've had this Zara skirt for a while and I really love the colorful pattern it has, and the pockets are a definite plus! However, as beautiful as it is, I've only worn it once (that I can recall) as I couldn't find a belt to wear with it and I didn't like how it looked without one. Finally, during a spring break shopping spree when I was up north around San Francisco I found this cream colored one and thought it'd go well with the skirt, along with the wedges I had bought a few weeks before. So here is the look I finally came up with for that amazing silk skirt, so excited I'll be able to wear it more often now! Perfect pop of color for this season!

Btw: I just designed the new blog title you see at the top, let me know what you think of it? Hope you like it! I'm working on improving my blog, changing the layout a bit, maybe the colors, and I'm also thinking of some exciting new content to add to it! Including some DIYs! Let me know if you have any ideas of what you'd like to see! :)

This look is also on lookbook.nu so if you like please hype it :) Thank you!

Hope everyone has an amazing weekend!

Ciao!

Twiggy, a fashion inspiration!

So just the other week I was watching Project Runway and in that particular episode the models chose the designers and then picked a fashion icon to be modernized by the designers. The possibilities included my fave Audrey Hepburn, Cher, Jackie O, Marilyn Monroe, etc. I must say that this was the day I was introduced to Twiggy. I hadn't heard about her up to this point (not sure how that's possible) but for some reason I was really curious since I saw her photograph in the show and I started researching her. After that, I HAD to write a post about her. I must say, she is such an amazing person, even now she looks so beautiful and radiant. If you are not familiar with Twiggy here are some photos of her when she was young (credits to Google):

My absolute favorite photo of Twiggy!

love this look on her!
What a dream!

Why Twiggy?
Interestingly, her nickname came from her friends calling her Twigs for her twig-like legs. Her characteristic look is defined by her boyish haircut and the bold eyelashes she used to draw on herself as hers were really short, and she would always do her own eyes. Makes me wonder if I would be able to pull it off, although I highly doubt those striking black eyelashes would work on me haha.

You can see it better on these pics:

Adorable!

Twiggy is just so fab and started her career at such an early age. She was raised in London and just when she was 16 a hairstylist cut her hair short and took head shots of her to hang in his salon. These were later seen by a fashion journalist who wrote for a newspaper. After meeting her she published an article in which she featured Twiggy as "The Face of 1966". This launched her career, she then moved to New York a year later and quickly became the world's first supermodel. Everyone loved her, and how can you not love Twiggy! She is so beautiful and shy and her accent is so cute, which I noticed when watching her biography on YouTube haha. Also, I found this video of her dancing and modeling, it's so freaking adorable haha you should definitely check it out!

Twiggy Now
Twiggy has had so much success throughout her life, you may have even seen her as a judge on America's Next Top Model (one of my fave shows). Twiggy did it all, from modeling to acting, dancing and singing! I must say she is now my favorite all-time fashion icon and I wish I had gotten to know her!

It's the life in ur years that count! :)

It's THAT day, the day you were brought into this world... Or at least it was my day on Friday, June 10th. One year older, finally 21! Which can sometimes be frustrating and seem ridiculous coming from a culture where turning 21 is not the biggest deal as we are free to drink at 18. However, even tho I get to spend my birthdays in Honduras (as I’m out of school by that time), after 3 years of college it’ll be nice not to worry about it anymore, especially when most of my friends are 21+ haha.

So I didn’t get to experience a “typical” 21st U.S. celebration haha, but I had an incredible time celebrating it with all my family and friends back home, I’ve never been away from them on my birthday and I just love having them with me, wouldn’t be the same otherwise. However, in a perfect world I would bring all my friends from the US to come celebrate with me here or vice versa haha maybe someday I can make it happen, maybe when I get married it may happen haha.

This is the outfit I wore for my bday celebrations, perfect for going out for drinks w/my friends and dancing!!! Check it out on LOOKBOOK as well!

My friend and I decided to celebrate our bdays together as his is the day right after mine and even tho we have known each other for over 15 yrs we have never actually done a joined party. It was an amazing idea, we had a blast with everyone and it definitely has been one of the best birthdays I’ve ever had. We started at a lounge and headed to the “party” street (if I may call it that) for some bar hopping, basically the go-to place, the only street filled with bars and clubs in our capital, Tegucigalpa. Here are a few pics from that night!

Some of my fave ppl :)

Midnight birthday shot: just in time for my friend's 21st!

Such an amazing and memorable birthday!

Lady Gaga attends Honduran Fashion Show.. or so I wish..

It's such a beautiful and amazing day in Honduras and that just puts me on the best spirits! I just woke up, yes I know... it's 11am, but hey! I'm on vacation so I better be racking up on sleep hours! I'm also trying to adjust my sleep pattern to resemble a normal person's, as every summer I end up waking up at 2pm and going to bed after 4am.. May as well become a vampire.. haha.

Anyway, last week my friends and I went to a fashion show and I thought it'd be nice to post some pics from that event. It was a cool event except for the fact that we waited around for 2 hours before it started but I didn't mind it too much as I was catching up with my girls! The event was sponsored by Remington, so the girl's hair was done using their products ( hair curlers, irons, etc) and they were wearing clothes from a Honduran boutique located in a couple of our malls. Also, we were excited to find out that by turning in a raffle coupon we had filled out we were given a gift bag with our own little pink&brown ceramic hair straightener and also a keychain or miniature flashlight. I have included a picture of it below :).

Of course, as every other fashion show it lasted 15 min and then there was a raffle. Sadly, neither my friends or I won any of the good prizes (ipad). Then they were serving some hor d'oeuvres (I have to admit I had to google the spelling of that word..) but we decided to head somewhere else for dinner as there was a long line for the miniature food and our empty stomachs weren't gonna wait.

P.S. I only have one pic of all of us but I'm hoping some other ones will resurface from the photographers who were taking photos of the guests before the event. Also, since I wasn't able to sit on the first row and seeing that this was the first day with my beloved new camera, I hadn't learned to blur the background or anything like that haha you'll see what I mean below.

Love'em! <3
